Samsung Wave 3 released in October

Samsung Wave 3 released in October

Posted on 19 Sep 2011 at 2:03pm

The next generation of Samsung’s bada phone, the Samsung Wave 3, wasn’t given a release date when it was announced together with the Wave M and Wave Y phones last month. But today at the bada developer day in India, a Samsung executive confirmed a release date for the Wave 3.

The Samsung Wave 3 will be released in Europe sometime next month. No word on a US release date, but seeing how the previous Wave phones never made it to our shores, it’s highly unlikely we’ll see the Wave 3 – but there’s always a first for everything.

The Samsung Wave 3 packs some decent specs – no dual-core processor, but it will have a single-core SoC clocked at 1.4GHz, a 4? Super AMOLED display, a 5-megapixel camera (capable of 720p HD video recording), WiFi, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth, GPS, 3GB of built in memory, a microSD card slot (supports up to 32GB) and a 1500mAh battery. And of course, the phone will be running the latest version of bada – bada 2.0.

HTPC are rarely associated with the word ‘performance’, but we’ve seen company that throws in a decent Core i7 processor into a nettop.

Now here’s another similar scenario. Giada has done the same, by throwing in a Core i7 into their latest super-slim nettop PC called the Giada D2301, which looks quite sleek for a HTPC, though the antenna makes it look like an FM radio.

D-Link has launched their new ShareCenter Pulse NAS Storage, which has a new sleeker exterior skin. Looks more like a nettop than a toaster with 2 large bricks.

The NAS is able to hold a pair of 3.5-inch SATA hard drives, and supports UPnP media streaming, iTunes server functionality, standalone BitTorrent downloads, and various power management systems that D-Link reckons, making the ShareCenter Pulse relatively green. Help saves you abit at the bills too.

The ShareCenter Pulse also supports hard-drive hibernation and “Green Ethernet”, which intelligently controls networking power consumption based on the state of your cabling, together with a smart fan that automatically adjusts according to temperature.

You can also schedule fixed downtime, turning the NAS off automatically as you wish according to your timetable, and use it with Apple’s Time Machine backup.

The D-Link ShareCenter Pulse NAS Storage is now available in the UK for £89.99 ($141). No drives included.

LG’s new LU3000 with 3.8-inch screen

LG’s new LU3000 with 3.8-inch screen

Posted on 09 Dec 2010 at 9:34am

720p on your iPhone 4?,  That’s so yesterday. These days every Tom, Dick, Harry, Jane and Lucy’s phone can produce their own homemade .3gp at 720p quality. Let’s look over to South Korea. Yes, there seemed to be a political tension there, but if you look further into it. Yes. There you go with 1080p on a phone. That’s LG’s LU3000.

The phone comes with a very standard 1GHz TI OMAP3630 chip, allowing it to jot down 1080p video playback on its spec sheet. That goes great with the built-in HDMI port and DLNA wireless capabilities. The 3.8-inch screen offers an 800 x 480 resolution, there’s a 5 megapixel camera around the back, and a mildly skinned Android 2.2 performs the OS duties.

The phone sells for ? 800,000 (roughly USD 705) next week at the company’s country, but it seemed that they’re back at it again. South Korea only. No love for other countries it seemed. Reminds me of the time when Samsung sells shitloads of phones that are Korea-only back then.
